Getting to know Maddy Jane

Maddy Jane is an independent singer-songwriter from Bruny Island, Tasmania. She is releasing her debut album this week. We asked her to tell us about herself:

I am… Maddy Jane, a muso from Bruny Island, Tasmania who writes music you’ll relate to. I write to say it how it is and laugh at the irony of life. Music is the way I get it out.

Not all Bad or Good is… my debut album! All the songs on this record basically came from the experiences in my life over the last few years and beyond. It’s about the contradictions in life and that life is not all bad, or good!

I have been keeping myself busy lately by… I mean releasing an album has helped keep me busy! But I did spend three days sticking pink rhinestones to knee high boots so that definitely kept me occupied. Rupaul’s Drag Race is good for that too.

Home is… full of plants and my dog, Iggy is always next to me. But home will always feel like Bruny Island too.

It might surprise people to learn that… I cannot handle mint in any form? Ha, that’s not interesting. Well, I nearly didn’t make it to the New Zealand show when I was supporting Harry Styles. I made it there within an hour of the show starting after tracking down my passport, changing flights, delayed flights etc. I made it, a bit weathered but nothing would stop me making it to that show!

In the future… I hope the aliens are common knowledge and we evolve past these bad things we have in place now, for the environment, the people…and the aliens. I’ll do some intense international touring too!
