Our top ten tunes of the week – October 20
These are the songs that have been lighting our fireworks over the past seven days:
1. Middle Kids – R U 4 Me?
The band have released their first new music in over 18 months and will perform a Global Live Streaming Event on October 22nd. Tickets are available here.
2. Kate Davis – I’ll Do Anything But Breakdance For Ya, Darling
Kate has teamed up with Daniel Johnston’s charity, the Hi How Are You Project, to record a cover album of Daniel’s Retired Boxer. It’s coming out early next year. In the meantime, have a listen to the lead single.
3. Quakers feat. Sampa the Great – Approach with Caution
This is the supergroup of Supa K (fka Katalyst), 7STU7 and Fuzzface aka Geoff Barrow (Portishead), along with an ever-expanding cast of MCs. The track, which features the amazing Sampa the Great, comes from their new album II: The Next Wave out November 13th.
4. Cat & Calmell – dumbshit
Cat spent her childhood in China and moved to Sydney as a young teen. Calmell was born and raised in Western Sydney. Stars aligned when the two met at an after-school program for developing artists. Here’s their debut single.
5. Joesef – Does It Make You Feel Good?
Here’s the title track from the 25-year-old Glaswegian’s second EP.
6. Vaughan – Silence
This is lifted from Vaughan’s sophomore EP ‘I WAS’, which is set to arrive on the 11th of November.
7. Slut Magic – Salsa Red
This new single lands ahead of the second full-length album, Trauma Queen, from the Brooklyn glitter-punk outfit.
8. Tilde – Don’t Walk Down That Road
This is the second single from the Swedish singer-songwriter’s upcoming second album, due to be released beginning of next year.
9. The Holy – I Don’t Know
The Finland band will release their second album ‘Mono Freedom’ via Playground Music this Spring. Check out their new single.
10. Pearly Drops – Make Water
Hailing from Helsinki, Pearly Drops is the moniker for Sandra Tervonen and Juuso Malin. This track is taken from their forthcoming debut album Call For Help.
