Our top ten tunes of the week – December 10
These are the songs that have been getting us going over the past seven days:
1. Maddy Jane – You’re Not Mine (But I Think You Should Be)
The video features an all-star cast of Australian female music trailblazers and friends, Maddy Jane stars alongside Ruby Fields, Annie Hamilton, Odette, Lucy Smith (triple j), Lily Richardson (CLEWS) and Rosie Fitzgerald (I Know Leopard).
2. shame – Snow Day
This is the latest track to be taken from the SW Londoners’ long-anticipated new album Drunk Tank Pink – out January 15, 2021. Their previous LP, Songs of Praise, was our album of the year in 2018.
3. Porridge Radio – The Last Time I Saw You (O Christmas)
Of the track, Dana Margolin, who fronts the Brighton band, says, “It’s a song about having a miserable time every Christmas and the same cycles of heartbreak and depression endlessly repeating themselves. We had a lot of fun with it – enjoy”
4. Patricia Lalor – Same Place Again
This is the latest song taken from the Irish artist’s recently released EP, This Is How We Connect, While You Stand So Tall.
5. Kathryn Williams & Carol Ann Duffy – Snow Angel
Mercury nominated Kathryn Williams and renowned writer Carol Ann Duffy have come together for a Christmas collaboration. The song was written by the duo in a small hut at Moniack Mhor, Scotland’s National Writing Centre in the Highlands.
6. Georgi Kay – Medicine
The Grammy nominated, LA-based British-Australian artist has dropped a new track and video. Check it!
7. Beryl – Time Around
Sydney based singer-songwriter duo Beryl are Gabriela King and Alex Jasprizza. Here’s their latest track.
8. Fanny Andersen – Pretty Girls Are Never Lonely
After a tough start to her career, surrounding her mental health and some turmoil with her ex-management, the Norwegian artist returned to the scene with brand new music this year.
9. LOVER – Wow
This is the project of Sydney-based artist Oliver Kirby, and this new single was written with his friend Nick Ward.
10. Foreign Affairs – One of These Days
The Bristol duo have dropped their new single. Give it a listen.
