Our top ten tunes of the week – May 11
These are the songs that have been on constant rotation in our office over the last week. Check them out:
1. LUMP – Animal
The new single from the collaboration between Laura Marling and Mike Lindsay of Tunng, precedes their new album, of the same name, on 30th July.
2. Emerson Snowe – You’re My Boy, Baby!
This is taken from his new EP, Emerson Snowe’s Splatterpunk. The five-track EP will land on June 23rd.
3. The Jungle Giants – Treat You Right
Of the track, Sam Hales says, “This is one of the first tracks I wrote for the upcoming record and also the first duet we’ve ever released. It’s Janet Planet from Confidence Man singing on the track and she’s brought the sass.”
4. Montaigne – Technicolour
The 2021 Eurovision contestant and ARIA Award-winning art-pop songwriter has released the official video for her new single.
5. Alice Skye – Party Tricks
This new single comes alongside the announcement of her sophomore album, I Feel Better But I Don’t Feel Good, due for release on July 23rd.
6. CXLOE – Cry & Drive
This single follows news that CXLOE will tour Australia in May and June.
7. Telenova – Tranquilize
This video from the new Melbourne three-piece is self-directed by frontwoman Ange Armstrong. She was selected to be mentored by Baz Luhrmann at NIDA and says the video, “plays into Siren mythology as a metaphor for falling in love – the power of attraction to transfix and tranquilize us”.
8. Nicholas Hamilton – In Line
The star of Hollywood movies It and It: Chapter 2, as well as classics like Captain Fantastic, has released his guitar-laden new single.
9. Kit Hepburn – left alone
The artist, originally from regional Victoria but currently based in Melbourne, has dropped a new, self-produced single.
10. Karen Harding – I Didn’t Realise
Check out the new one from the Melbourne-based artist.
