10 things you need to know about Approachable Members Of Your Local Community
Approachable Members Of Your Local Community have just released their new single, Just say It. Here are ten things that you need to know about them, in their own words:
- If we play a show in Melbourne, you can count on seeing all of our mums there. They’ll probably introduce themselves to you. They’re the ones sporting AMOYLC hats and assessing the show step-by step. Think, a New York Times theatre critic, but with a loving expression that smells of freshly cooked apple pie.
- The National Vehicle of the Band is the Kia Carnival. This isn’t just a car – in what’s an increasingly febrile political environment, we think it’s the one thing holding everything together. It ticks all the boxes: practicality, friendship, power, and trunk. It makes every tour a delight. Other than playing Coachella, the Members’ greatest aspiration is to become Kia Ambassadors.
- We know how to eat food. In any city, always. Our #1 is a perfect Japanese restaurant tucked away in an alley in Surfers Paradise. Amimoto. HEAVEN
- Josh and Micky played together in a Year 12 VCE music performance. Rumours have it that the examiners were so blown away by Micky’s unusual curly 18 year old Jewfro/locks that they gave very good marks, even though it was Josh’s exam.
- We all have each other on Find My Friends. It is essential that the band can track each other at all times. One time, we lost Sam on tour for a whole hour. It was most stressful – fortunately, we later found him just eating a yum burrito outside the venue, eating and laughing with some guy he met. Nice guy.
- Sage and Max have both dabbled in the podcasting/radio world. Sage is the incredible co-host of the podcast ‘Preach the Peach.’ Max was a lowly Jewish radio show host, famous for such segments as “who said this in the Jewish News this week?”
- Max and Sam are brothers. This might be a boring one, or something that the real fans know. But yes, Max and Sam are brothers. They are 15 months apart exactly. Both born on the 23rd. Both have the same parents. Both grew up in the same home.
- The band at one time was a seven-piece, funk-inspired alternative indie rock band with a yacht-rock streak and brass section. It feels like another lifetime ago, but some say it was two years ago. In many ways, that’s the AMOYLC tradition – to celebrate life, and dig up those funkilicious times.
- We just put out a song that’ll change your life. Just Say It. No, that’s the name of the song. Listen to it.
- We’re heading on tour in February 2022. We can’t save you from being condemned to purgatory for 1000 years, but we can give you a night to remember. Come along. Or don’t. Just, if you don’t, that’s like a really bad decision.
