Our top ten tunes of the week – March 8
These are the songs that have been getting us going over the past seven days, including one from an act who will be at this year’s Great Escape:
1. Alex the Astronaut – Octopus
One of our absolute faves has just announced that her sophomore album How to Grow A Sunflower Underwater will be out July 22nd and that she will be performing at this year’s Great Escape Festival in Brighton. For details and tickets, go here.
2. Kae Tempest ft. Lianne La Havas – No Prizes
This new one, featuring Lianne La Havas, is the second single to be revealed from British spoken word artist, rapper, poet, novelist, and playwright’s new album, The Line Is A Curve, set for release on April 8th.
3. Maddy Storm – Mattress
This new single is a self-written and produced over-the-top-pop-bop that Maddy recorded on holiday in an Airbnb in Brighton.
4. Logic1000 – Can’t Stop Thinking About
Here’s the new single from the Berlin-based, Sydney-born artist, who will be at this year’s Coachella, Field Day (UK), and Primavera Sound.
5. Screamfeeder – Don’t Get Me Started
The Brisbane rockers have announced that their eighth studio album, Five Rooms, will land in May.
6. Meg Mac – Is It Worth Being Sad
This new single’s music video was directed by Alissa Torvinen, and is shot in Portland. It features Meg forging a path through a tempestuous storm to brighter skies.
7. Pip Millett – Ride With Me
The 23-year-old singer/songwriter from Manchester has been steadily establishing herself as ones of the UK’s most exciting new voices. Here’s her new single.
8. Thirsty Eyes – Pop Sent
Originally composed for a 17-piece jazz orchestra, the song found its way into the hands of the Austrian band,, who transformed it into a raw, blues-driven ballad.
9. JANOS – JUICEBOX
Here’s the latest single from the Scandinavia-based band.
10. Black Lilys – Invisible Strings
Following on from their standalone single Gymnopédie last year, the French sibling duo are back!
