The Great Escape adds 90+ acts to line-up
If you weren’t already looking forward to this year’s Great Escape, well, you should have been. But now there is even more reason to be abso-bloody-lutely frothing about the festival, which takes place in Brighton in May.
TGE has just added a whopping number of acts to play at this year’s event, which takes place across various venues across the city.
Of the line-up so far, we’re so pumped to see UK singer-songwriter Billie Marten, as well as glitchy, psych hip-hoppers Sad Night Dynamite (pictured, above), Oxford-via-Bristol’s very own pop polymath Willie J Healey, and Leeds indie trailblazers English Teacher.
Some other really exciting names in new music, who we can’t wait to see, include Mercury Prize nominees The Big Moon, Liverpudlian loudmouths Stone, and budding pop superstar sensation Caity Baser.
Australia is always well represented at TGE, and this year we are especially keen to see Eliza Hull and four-piece Canberra rockers Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers. Cracking name, cracking band.
Meanwhile, Italy will be The Great Escape’s lead country partner for 2023, with Milanosport, Eugenia Post Meridiem, and BLUEM joining the previously announced Sans Soucis to represent the country’s burgeoning new music scene.
The Great Escape will be kicking off the 2023 festival season by playing host to more than 450 up-and-coming artists and hotly tipped talent across 35+ walkable venues. Seriously, you can walk between all of them, from tiny little corners of Brighton, to mid-size venues on the circuit, to the excellent three-stage bespoke beach area.
And alongside the music programme, there is also a music industry-led TGE conference. Oh, and that’s without even mentioning The Alternative Escape – a completely free set of shows all over the city.
