Interview: Getting to know Hoon

Dharawal/Wollongong-based garage-punk act Hoon have just announced their debut studio album, Australian Dream, alongside new single Fried. We asked them to tell us about themselves:

We are… HOON, the grimy garage punk band from Wollongong. 

Fried is… the 3rd track from our album ‘Australian Dream’ and is also the 3rd song we wrote for it. 3 is very in at the moment. Let’s play dice, I’m feeling lucky. 

Home is… where the dart is, beer and rock. Probably look a little bit like this bloke.

I spend too much time… Trying to be as iconic as this dude. 

I’ve never… used chat GPT to answer an interview question. 

Hey Chat GPT, here’s the scene: You are at a party playing ‘Never have I ever’, a game where you say a thing you have never done before. What have you never done? “Never have I ever been to a party as a human.” Cheers lad. 

It might surprise people to learn that… we made a drinking board game called ‘Untitled Drinking Game’, and it’s the follow up to our first board ‘Slurp N Burp’ (R.I.P) and the drinking game we gifted to IDLES. It’s got a spin wheel and shit. Reckon we should manufacture it? HOON copyright 2023.
