Getting to know Sarah Yagki

Alternative-pop artist Sarah Yagki has dropped her new single. We asked her to tell us about herself:

I am… Sarah Yagki, an alternative pop/rock artist based in Eora/Sydney.

Alone is… about confronting the darkest parts of your mind, with the parts that hold the most hope. It’s about the duality of both wanting to keep pushing on when things get hard, and letting yourself go into your lowest state. Depending on the listener, ‘Alone’ acts both as a song that tries to find hope, and also a song that accepts that you are falling without a willingness to get back up.

Home is… in Eora/Sydney, Australia!

I spend too much time…getting distracted by my cat Redbull. Redbull is my first animal (I had birds as a kid, but not as interactive as having a cat is) so I am a little bit obsessed to say the least.

I’ve never…pulled an all-nighter to finish something. I’ve stayed up late to do work, but never have stayed to the early hours of the morning to finish an assignment or something that was due.

It might surprise people to learn that…if I wasn’t doing music, I would have chosen to do psychology as a career. I love understanding the way people think, react and co-exist.
