Interview: Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers tear up the English streets
We talk to awesome Australian punk rockers Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers ahead of their first live dates in the UK, including two gigs at The Great Escape:
Hi Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers! Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. We love your work. How are you feeling about heading over for your first UK dates?
We are so so excited! It’ll be so nice to expand our lil teeny network and meet new people. We are a little nervous cause it’s our first time playing overseas but our nerves will be squashed by Big Ben himself and we couldn’t be more keen.
Aside from playing shows, what are you most looking forward to about coming to the UK?
Bangers and mash and a side of beans. And obviously hangin out with each other on the other side of the world.
And what do you think you will miss most about home while you’re away?
We are too excited. I don’t think we will be even get a chance to miss anything back home while we are tearin up the English streets.
What might we be surprised to learn that you are packing in your suitcase?
Some things you might be surprised we are bringing include a stuffed toy Peppa pig that oinks and an unsolved Rubix cube (Neve will solve it before you can say Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers).
You’re playing a mix of headline and festival shows. Is there any difference in the way you approach/play these two types of gigs? Do you enjoy one more than the other?
We are playing a couple headline shows and festivals but I’d say we are equally excited for both. It’s nice to get variety with cute quaint little pubs with an intimate crowd and big fun festival energy.
We’re very excited to see you at The Great Escape, but are there any other acts that you are hoping to catch at the festival?
We are so stoked to be a part of the Great Escape family and we are also so keen to see some (hopefully) new friends like SORRY, SNAYX and Sad Night Dynamite. And I’m sure many more epic acts!
Tell us about your new single, Lights Out…
Lights out is about self empowerment, having confidence in yourself and claiming your sexuality. It’s also just one of our favourite songs to play live so we are so keen to see what the UK think.
Finally, what’s in store for the rest of the year?
We have so much planned for this year! we are so keen to tour and see new places and maybe or maybe not release some new tunes Xoxox
