What a year it’s been for telly. Here are Something You Said’s favourite TV shows of 2024:

1. The Traitors UK

The series two finale stopped an entire nation with its epic, Shakespearian denouement. It was an absolutely incredible end to a brilliant series of backstabbing, plotting and pantomime villains. Roll on series three!

2. Shrinking

Jimmy and the gang returned for a second outing which was even stronger, funnier and more touching than before.

3. Mr Bates vs the Post Office

The extraordinary story of the greatest miscarriage of justice in British legal history. So well told that it caused absolute uproar in the UK.

4. After the Party

Robyn Malcolm is magnificent in this NZ-based drama, in which her character is sure she saw her husband sexually assault a minor.

5. Baby Reindeer

Needs no explanation. You’ve seen it.

6. Alma’s Not Normal

Sophie Willan was back in series two of her UK-based sitcom, which came with added heartbreak, while still offering generous dollops of humour.

7. Slow Horses

Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb was back with his ragbag bunch of misfits.

8. The Penguin

Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti should sweep up the awards for their performances in this brilliant crime series.

9. Blue Lights

Grace, Annie, and Tommy – along with the rest of the force – were back on the Belfast streets, once again pushed to their personal and professional limits. This time, a gangland feud leads to chaos.

10. Only Murders in the Building

The trio of podcasters went to Hollywood, as their story was adapted into a movie starring Zach Galifianakis and Eva Longoria in the fourth season of this funny and warm show.
