Getting to know The Audreys

Following the release of their first new music in 10 years last November, The Audreys have released their fifth studio album, Ruin & Repair, and are set to tour Australia. We asked Taasha Coates from the band to tell us more:

I am… Taasha Coates, singer and songwriter with The Audreys. We put out our first album in 2006, and my new album Ruin & Repair comes out on March 14th, 2025. It will be my sixth studio release.

Honestly… 2025 so far has been pretty crazy. We’ve put out two singles, and we’re about to drop an album and start a huge national tour. It’s also been Fringe and Festival time here in Adelaide—otherwise known as Mad March. Plus, I have two kids and a LOT of laundry. Honestly, I just need a big, long sleep.

The upcoming Ruin & Repair national tour will be… a great celebration of a record several years in the making. It’s a chance to get back on stage and out on the road, which is honestly my favorite part of being a musician.

Home… used to be way up in the Adelaide Hills, but now that my children are a little older, they want to hang out with their friends after school rather than run around in the backyard. So, we made the big move down the mountain last year. I probably shouldn’t have done that just before a particularly hot summer here in Adelaide, but there you go.

I spend too much time… worrying about what’s happening to women’s rights in America right now—and what’s happening there in general.

I’ve never… gotten a tattoo. I honestly just can’t think of any single image I would want to commit to for the rest of my life.
