Getting to know The Witchy Djypsies
Perth’s international six-piece firestarters, The Witchy Djypsies, have released their new single, In My Mind. We asked them to tell us about themselves:
We are… a crew of friends having an absolute blast making music together, on a mission to unleash our quirky sounds and roll through the world spreading magic, mischief, and irresistible grooves wherever we dare to wander.
2025 has so far been… absolutely awesome! Starting the year playing at Wild Campout Festival was definitely a high! We have then been focusing on the release plan of our latest single In My Mind. And it’s now out! We’ve just done 2 back to back sold out shows to celebrate this song child birth with our fabulous audience so we are definitely pumped and ready for the next half of 2025! And to top it off, our bassman Dennis is about to become a dad to an actual real child so we’re pretty excited for a new djypsy baby!
Our upcoming single/album/tour will be… our new single In My Mind is out! Imagine a cowboy inspired journey into the never ending land of thoughts bursting out of an overstimulated mind, layered with deep harmonies, punchy brass lines and mad guitar riffs. Touring wise, we are manifesting hard for it to be based around some east coast festivals! And yes, we got some tracks ready under our belt, slowly working our way to get them mixed and mastered.. Hopefully we will be releasing a new track this summer!
Home is… Perth! Vibrant scene, absolute paradise to live, work and play! We are super blessed with an eclectic community of musos, awesome events and venues and a very creative community!
We spend too much time… working. We do love our jobs but we would much rather be songwriting and recording, travelling with the band, putting on shows and making people dance! I think it’s a dream of all of us to be able to work a little less and play a little more!
We’ve never… been outside of WA as a band! It’s definitely our dream to be spreading our wildfire to the eastern states and even overseas. We’ve done left right up down of our amazing and gigantic state but we are eager to cross the borders!! Buckle up East Coast (and World yes let’s be crazy) we’re coming in hot!
