My 2025, my 2026 – by Alice Ruby

Aus artist Alice Ruby is closing 2025 with new single “xx”. Here, she tells about the year that has just passed, and the one that is coming up:
2025 was… a year of growth and discovering more about myself and the person I want to become – artistically and in my every day life too.
My highlight was… making and releasing the first tracks on the Alice Ruby project! Also beginning to craft the Alice Ruby world.
My lowlight was… I feel like I’ve learnt a lot of lessons about myself and the world around me this year. Whilst at the time they felt like lowlights, in hindsight I think each lesson has helped me become a stronger person and has encouraged me to stay authentic and true to myself more than ever.
In 2025, I was watching… I think I watched Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette about 10000 times! I am obsessed with the juxtaposition between the soundtrack and delicate film aesthetic.
And I was listening to… soooo much music – Lots of The Marias, Not for Radio, Men I Trust and Night Tapes! I was also back listening to a lot of the post punk music that I grew up with, bands like New Order and The Cure.
I was reading… I was finishing off my degree in music composition and film so I spent most of the year reading textbooks and essays….
2026 will be… whimsy and creative!
I’m most looking forward to… releasing more music and developing the Alice Ruby world further. I am sitting on so much music which I can’t wait to share.
In 2026, I want to… play more shows and connect more directly with my audience!
By this time next year, I hope… to have collected a whole year’s worth of new and exciting stories and adventures.
