Help Oxford Art Factory celebrate turning five!

As SYS’s Founder and Editor, I’ve been to loads of gigs at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory over the past five years. Amongst these visits, I’ve seen Jeffrey Lewis play an amazing set, Billy Bragg duetting with Kate Nash, Har Mar Superstar crowdsurfing to the back of the room during DIOYY’s show, Adam Green absolutely hammered, Friends smooching with the audience, Wavves tearing the room apart, a dizzying turn from The Raveonettes, SoKo winning hearts and Django Django getting the party started.

As well as all of these international acts, I’ve seen a bunch of Aussie bands getting the chance to strut their stuff. In the Gallery Bar, folksters Georgia Fair, The Falls and Caitlin Park have played beautiful sets, while Husky and Last Dinosaurs have wowed the main room.

On top of this, I’ve been DJing in the Gallery Bar every Friday and Saturday for a while now, so it’s fair to say that I am pretty attached to the venue.

Excitingly, this Saturday sees Oxford Art Factory celebrate their fifth birthday and they’re doing so the only way they know how: by throwing a gigantic, FREE party. Over the two stages, there will be some awesome live bands, most notably Something You Said favourites The Preatures (pictured, top), as well as the excellent Kill City Creeps, Group, The Shooters Party, Spirit Valley, Sures, Bloods, Sweet Teeth, Reckless Vagina and Whipped Cream Chargers. Supporting them on the decks will be a bunch of DJs, including… well… me.

It’s free to get in and you’ll get a complimentary drink on arrival between 8-9pm.

It’s going to be epic. Frankly, you’d be a goddam fool to miss it. More details can be found here.
