FBi turns 10 and throws a party

FBi Turns 10! Second Announce.png

At Something You Said we’re awaiting the upcoming FBi 10th birthday celebrations, which include a marathon party show at Sydney’s Carriageworks. For those outside of the New South Welsh bubble, FBi is Sydney’s forefront independent radio station; showcasing more local acts than any other and acting as a vital stepping stone for domestic musicians.

The highlights of most 10th birthday parties are red cordial sugar highs and an intense Russian Roulette of pass-the-parcel, but FBi have something a little more exciting in store. So here are five picks for the September 8th show:

DECODER RING

They’ve been kicking around Sydney and the world for the last twelve years, dropping four albums and award-winning film scores. Complete with their live film projectionist, Decoder Ring return to the stage to woo audiences with poignant post-rock.

KIRIN J CALLINAN

Considering we’ve now changed our domain name to “welovekirinjcallinan.com,” we’re pretty excited to watch the man himself play this show. In true KJC style, we expect intense audience eye-contact, a horse-shoe of effects pedals and face-melting, brain-bursting guitar. Warning: your eyes will fall out of your face.

STRAIGHT ARROWS

New releases from these garage rockers are solid indicators of good things soon to come. We expect a wall of blazing, scuzzed-out guitar and semi-melodic shouting. Dust off your dancing shoes, Carriageworks, let’s get down and out.

THE LAURELS

Through sun-blazed retro to dark visceral guitar, The Laurels’ debut album goes from strength to strength. And rumour has it their live show does too. Having toured with The Black Angels earlier this year, The Laurels get ready to play alongside more musical scholars, this time in honour of FBi.

DEEP SEA ARCADE

Deep Sea Arcade relocated to The UK earlier this year, we’re curious to see what these Sydney expats have been keeping themselves busy with. We hope it’s more catchy, spacious grooves and killer 60’s haircuts.

If you are in Sydney, you should totally get your tickets now for the September 8th show through Ticketmaster. This is an 18+ event.
