Getting to know Party Dozen

We asked Sydney noise-punk duo Party Dozen to tell us about themselves, ahead of their upcoming show at Otto’s House Party at The World Bar on Friday:

We Are… Party Dozen aka Farty Cousin. We are two people throwing our own faeces at each other like monkeys in the wild. We fight for status in the band constantly battling to be King Kong. Kirsty sounds like a swarm of killer geese, the kind that eat bread and drink blood. I sound like a huge bag of old drum kits dropped down some stairs.

The Living Man is… an abomination of sonic exploration. He’s a slap in the face to all decency. He’s a depraved, creepin’, bitter old junkie who found a bin harmonica and plays the same two chords for money out front of the supermarket. One breath in, one breath out. He doesn’t deserve your change, but he makes you feel nervous if you don’t give him at least something.

Our upcoming show at Otto’s House Party in Sydney will be… just like old times in the Cross. We get older but they stay the same age. Teapots, and hope filled eyes. Bring earplugs. As regenerative as the young person’s hearing is, you need to form the habit early of wearing ear protection when exposed to prolonged periods of voluminous sound.

Home is… anywhere you can roll out a mat, run out of phone battery, and see the sky at night. In the city, home is getting smaller and more expensive. You wanna live by the beach, I wanna live in a bucket of shit.

We spend too much time… looking at things in real life. Why waste your precious time and money travelling half way across god’s green earth when you can see it online? Hot tip; anything you can think of probably already has a photo up on the world wide web that you can see without even putting on pants. It’s time to spend more time indoors and less time ruining the environment with large carbon footprints and large regular footprints. Stay safe, stay in.

We’ve never… seen the northern lights; been to central Australia; climbed the Harbour Bridge; eaten a live fish; jumped out of a plane; written a bucket list; written a list on a bucket; written bucket on a list; but one day we’d like to.

It might surprise people to learn that… when Kirsty was 10 years old, like all country girls she dreamt of being a hairdresser, and to this day she still has a full head of hair. When I was 10 years old my plan was to one day play football for Manchester United. It might also surprise you to learn that I haven’t achieved that goal yet.

Party Dozen are performing at Otto’s House Party at The World Bar in Sydney this Friday July 27. For more info on upcoming events, head to Facebook.
