Getting to know The Steve McQueens
Singapore-based neo-soul funk group The Steve McQueens are set to play at BIGSOUND this year as part of the Hear65 Singapore Showcase on the 5th September. We asked them to tell us about themselves:
We are… The Steve McQueens. A five-piece neo-vintage soul-jazz outfit from Singapore.
Terrarium is… our latest album, which explores new directions, whilst also eschewing common traps to fall into trends or fads. Because ultimately, “cool” isn’t about deliberately setting oneself up for something, but about being comfortable with living; embracing one’s journey at one’s own time and pace—that is what Terrarium is about.
Our upcoming show at BIGSOUND will be… our third outing to Australia after playing festivals in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide. We’re really looking forward to being back again this September and playing new material, which we’ve written over the past few months!
Home is… where the teh (Singaporean-Indian style sweetened milk tea) is.
We spend too much time… searching for the best teh.
We’ve never… had the best teh.
It might surprise people to learn that… good teh is super hard to find.
