Our top ten tunes of the week – Sept 20

Here are the songs that have been lighting our fireworks over the past few days:

1. Emma Louise – Just The Way I Am

This is from the new album, Lilac Everything; A Project by Emma Louise. She tells us, “Just The Way I Am is my favourite song from the album, and it means the most to me. I wrote it after having a falling out with a friend and I came to realise how special it is to have people in your life who love absolutely everything about you.”

2. Gorillaz – Tranz

This eye-popping film sees Gorillaz vocalist 2D command the stage against a backdrop of mind-altering visuals alongside bandmates Noodle and Russel Hobbs, with Gangreen Gang’s Ace on bass standing in for the temporarily incarcerated Murdoc Niccals.

3. Body Type – Palms

A song of chance, luck and fate, the track toes the line between unadulterated dream pop and rumbling, raw garage instrumentation.

4. Jess Kent – Girl

“I wrote “Girl” when I was feeling the pressure from society to ‘fit in’ and give in to a certain stereotype to be the girl people expect me to be,” says Jess Kent.

5. Ferris & Sylvester – Sometimes

This clip was brought to life by creative director Neil Pymer (Aardman Studios) and Shiny Eye Studios.

6. Atalein – Autumn / Winter

Atalein is the industrial, electronic project of Melbourne-based producer Laura Hopkins.

7. Jerry Paper – My God

Jerry Paper is LA-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Lucas Nathan.

8. Roosevelt – Getaway
