Getting to know Sierra Heuermann
Sierra Heuermann sang with Muse on their Drones tour, played a starring role in box office smash OUIJA and has a new single out now. We asked her to tell us about herself:
I am… Sierra Heuermann, an American singer/songwriter and actress raised in Sedona, Arizona. I became interested in performing as a child and started writing songs at age 12. My writing style focuses my pop music to not only be catchy but also to carry intense emotion throughout each song. I want to create something that isn’t just catchy, it’s very important to me to write lyrics that are well thought-out for each song, and emotions are poured into them. This makes the listener feel something and think. Everything connects and it’s all relatable.
It’s my personal mission to… spread kindness to the world and show everyone how important it is to be kind, grateful and honest. I want to spread the message that honoring our emotions and processing them is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and others around you. When we don’t acknowledge what we are feeling our emotions can get built up and sooner or later they will come out in a nasty way if we don’t pay attention. I hope my music allows others to process what they are feeling and know that it’s ok to feel anyway.
Sierra and the Radicals is… a pop band with catchy hooks, heartfelt lyrics, and indubitable passion! We have played some of the top venues in Los Angeles including the House of Blues, the Hotel Cafe, the Satellite, the Viper Room, Whiskey a Go-Go, the Mint, and numerous private affairs including the 2017 Pre-OscarsVoguee fashion show at Princes mansion, Andy Dick’s comedy Event, 88.5’s KCSN Local Spotlight Concert and more. We released our EP in 2016 titled after the single “Somewhere Between Here And There”, winning the Akademia music award for the best Pop/Folk song. Our “Somewhere Between Here And There” EP features five of our original songs, artwork and more. Little Voices LP, released 2017, features popular song “Hands” signed to Kobalt Publishing. I am currently working on the next EP. Our sound supports emotional connection, catchiness, and uniqueness.
You Look Like My Next Ex is… a song I wrote when I had lost hope on a relationship lasting. I felt like everything had an end. I wrote this song with that feeling and put a fun positive twist on it! It’s your new breakup anthem!
Aside from music… I am an actor, and I also work in stunts! I love hanging out with my friends and family and doing all types of art.
Home is… my family ♥️
Performing with Muse was… incredible and such a fun experience! I got to sing with them as a part of iHeart Radio promotion when they played in Washington DC. I sang “Starlight” with the band. Right before I was scheduled to go on, I was told that I would be singing alone, without Matt, and that the key was going to be lower than the recording, meaning I wouldn’t be able to use anything I had practiced. I started to freak out a little, but once I walked onto that stage, I felt like it was the place I belonged. I’d been dreaming about being on a stage like that my entire life — it felt like home.
I spend too much time… worrying and taking everything too personally. This is what my next single “Better Then Bad” is about. It’s the most personal song I’ve written and really dives deep into what I go through when I let my worry and fear take over.
It might surprise people to learn that… I am only 4’10’’!
