Our top ten tunes of the week – May 15
These are the ten songs that have been getting us going over the past seven days:
1. Le Villejuif Underground – Ghost of The Water
Here’s the new single from the band formed in the Paris suburbs by our ol’ friend from Australia, Nathan Roche, and three Parisians. Once this whole C19 situation has calmed down, their plan is to tour the hell out of Aus. That can’t come soon enough, as far as we’re concerned.
2. Alex The Astronaut – Lost
The Sydney-born singer, songwriter and storyteller will release her debut album, The Theory Of Absolutely Nothing, on Friday 21 August, and we couldn’t be more excited. Here’s her new single.
3. G Flip – Hyperfine
Given the current constraints around shooting videos, G conceptualised and developed the video with director and animator, Dan Wakehurst, shooting all of her scenes in her bedroom on green screen, by herself.
4. Matt Costa – Avenal
This is the lead single to be taken from forthcoming record ‘Yellow Coat’, out September 11.
5. Cut Copy – Love Is All We Share
This is the first new single from Cut Copy in three years. Exciting!
6. The Growlers – Dream World
Recorded after sessions for their last album, 2019’s Natural Affair LP, the track imagines an alternate universe available to everyone, if you want it.
7. Nick Hakim – BOUNCING
Here’s the final single from his upcoming album, WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD, which is out this Friday.
8. Tkay Maidza – Shook
With this release is the news of Tkay’s international label signing to 4AD, where she joins their roster of artists including Grimes, D.D. Dumbo, Purity Ring and more.
9. Peter Bibby – Oceans
This new single is available digitally and on a limited edition 7” vinyl paired with a B side of Quiver and Melt from the same recording session.
10. Washington – Dark Parts
Washington is back! And her highly-anticipated new single is a bonkers, kind-of pop song that’s in ⅞ time.
