Our top ten tunes of the week – July 3

These are the songs that have been lighting our fireworks over the past seven days:

1. Lastlings – No Time

The Australian-Japanese siblings, Amy and Josh Dowdle, have dropped a new tune, complete with an anime-style music video, inspired by the duo’s Japanese heritage and one of their favourite dystopian science fiction novels, ‘Never Let Me Go’.

2. Cut Copy – Cold Water

The Australian band have announced that their sixth studio album will be released on August 21. Here’s their new single, which is taken from it.

3. Disclosure (feat. Aminé, slowthai) – My High

This track is taken from their forthcoming album, ENERGY, out 28 August.

4. Delta Spirit – How Bout It

The video was directed by Michael Parks Randa and shot during the Covid-19 pandemic at over 30 locations throughout North America. After speaking with roughly 70 cinematographers to learn about their particular circumstances, Randa directed 30 individuals across the country to safely document an intimate portrait of Americans in isolation.

5. Fontaines D.C. – Televised Mind

The band’s forthcoming LP, A Hero’s Death, comes out on Friday 31 July via Partisan Records / Liberator Music.

6. Max Leone – Malleable

This is the fourth track to be lifted from Max’s forthcoming debut EP.

7. ASHWARYA – PSYCHO HOLE

Check out the debut single from the 21-year-old Indian-born Melbourne artist.

8. G Flip – Hyperfine

9. Baby Taylah – Good Enough

The Glasgow pop artist explains that the track is, “mainly about forgiveness: accepting our past so we can move forward; but asking myself if there is an afterlife would I be good enough to make it through myself. I feel like it’s relevant now in times of change.”

10. STORRYFor No One

The JUNO-nominated Toronto artist has dropped a new song in honour of Pride Month. The track is the first single off a new EP written in quarantine titled “INTERLUDE-19,” which will be a visual album.
