Getting to know Kiyanosh

Sydney-Iranian artist Kiyanosh has recently released his new single, KARMA. We asked him to tell us about himself:

I am… Sydney-Iranian jazz rapper Kiyanosh. Born and raised in Sydney with most of my family overseas, my music is definitely more introspective and revolves around my family more than you might expect. I try to manipulate genre as a way to explore my Iranian roots, my Australian upbringing and the inevitable clash of cultures, ideals and lifestyles between the two worlds. In addition to my solo career, I am also a member of hip-hop duo SKID2 and founder of the Spretbot Syndicate record label and collective.

KARMA is… the lead single off my upcoming EP ‘Dying Alone’. The track is bouncy, fun and catchy with a slight chaotic energy to it, which isn’t surprising given my track record. Silky smooth production by future beats mastermind and label-mate shue coupled together with playful yet honest lyricism and delivery shows both artists in top form, elevating each other to bring us a banging anthem with a surprisingly profound message.

Home is… Sydney and Iran.

I spend too much time… watching movies. But also, if there were more hours in the day, I would probably still spend it watching more movies.

I’ve never… recorded an entire song underwater… but don’t worry, I got you.

It might surprise people to learn that… I’m working on my underwater debut as we speak, it’s really not sounding like I was hoping…
