Video Premiere: Psyrena – Jedi Master

We’re excited to today premiere the new video from London-based German alt-pop artist Psyrena. The new track from musician/animator Madeleine Wise is lifted from her forthcoming EP ‘Honey Moon’ due later this year.

Psyrena says, “”Just like ‘Rainbows and Unicorns’ I made the music video for ‘Jedi Master’ at home. The pandemic is bringing the importance of digitalisation to the fore, I am wondering what changes the aftermath may bring, in terms of how we communicate with each other, or how we function. Hence I found it very interesting experimenting with bending reality with digital AI masks, producing post-human aesthetics, altering myself, or appearing with Mr. Bear in an old-school computer game during the video making process. It felt like being in The Matrix! Especially now, with social media, there’s so much focus on curating our own identities. I didn’t realise it, but we are so connected to the technology we are almost fusing with it. It gives us a very strong feeling of control over our own image, which is exciting and scary at the same time, but as an artist and musician I see my role to package the complex into something palatable, so Jedi Master just had be uplifting and fun. In the video, I am becoming a cyber-human so to speak, but I …take, and take control … So – just like a Jedi … be wise, be a badass, show strength, kindness and humour. Let’s not be afraid of the future, learn about it, help others learn too! We can do both: be close to each other in lockdown and have fun with annoying robots!”.”
