Ten Things You Need To Know about Elle Músa

Brisbane pop artist Elle Músa has recently dropped her new single, Bibi’s Bay. Here are ten things you need to know about her:

Elle Músa is a musician, singer songwriter and artist (painter) her real name is Elle-Louise Burguez.

Before Elle was born her parents used to perform together- her dad on the piano and her mum singing jazz tunes.

As a child and up until adulthood, Elle learned the piano and did singing lessons. She didn’t think she enjoyed it all of those years until she started to improvise and play her own music- then she fell in love with music-making and hasn’t stopped since.

Elle’s late grandfather was an incredible jazz pianist. He was originally from London and his band was called ‘The Jive Bombers’. The comedian/actor Peter Sellers was actually the drummer of the band for a while.

Growing up when Elle’s family would get together, by the end of the night everyone would be around the piano where either her grandma or her father would be playing absolute bangers for everyone to sing along to. Elle always felt moved to tears in these moments and when she was around 18 she started doing the same at parties. She sang a lot of MGMT and Neil Young covers.

Bibi’s Bay isn’t actually a real place. Elle imagined this wonderful utopian beach in her mind. Quite obviously Elle had started surfing for the first time when she wrote this song and was a tad obsessed.

One of Músa’s biggest inspirations is Henry Mancini.

Elle’s first performance was at age 5 at a dance concert where she sung ‘What a Wonderful World’ in a yellow dress.

Elle believed in fairies up until age 13.. and saw one when she was in year 7 (Did she ever stop believing though?).

Elle wrote the songs from her up and coming EP in a few different places- Australia, Bali and Portugal!
