Our top ten tunes of the week – April 23
These are the songs that have been on heavy rotation in our office over the past seven days:
1. Gruff Rhys – Can’t Carry On
Gruff’s seventh solo album, Seeking New Gods, was recorded in the Mojave Desert, following a US tour and mixed in LA with superstar producer Mario C (Beastie Boys). It’s out in May.
2. Julia Stone – Fire In Me
This is the final single from Julia’s forthcoming album, Sixty Summers, which lands on April 30.
3. Gordi – Refracted
This video is a medley of Our Two Skins songs, Extraordinary Life and Volcanic, and comes in advance of an EP of live songs from Gordi’s recent intimate performances at Phoenix Central Park in Sydney. Titled Refracted: Live at Phoenix Central Park, the EP will be out next month.
4. Chet Faker – Whatever Tomorrow
The Melbourne-raised, New-York based artist has announced that his next album, Hotel Surrender, will land on July 16. Here’s a slice from it.
5. Coconut Cream – Your Drug On Computers
Broth Records, the independent record label of Joji Malani (formerly of Gang Of Youths), have announced their debut roster signing, Sydney four-piece Coconut Cream. Here’s their new single.
6. Ryan Fennis & Voidhood – Tapped
Check out the first release from the collaborative project of the Canberra artists.
7. VORONOI – Robots As Pathos/Menace
The single is the latest track to be taken from the Leeds Progressive Jazz Metal trio’s forthcoming album, The Last Three Seconds, set for release on 7th May 2021.
8. EKKSTACY – i want to be by your side (feat. herhexx)

9. Mellor – Vacant Stare
The Reading-based indie-rockers have announced the details of their next EP, Fragment Of Imagination, alongside this new single.
10. Witching Hour – Hell Hath No Fury Like
Of the new track, the Melbourne artist says, “This song embodies glorious self-reclamation. It’s about firing back at an ex who is quietly raging at the liberated choices you’ve made after ending the relationship.”
