Our top ten tunes of the week – May 20

These are the songs that have been on getting us going over the last week. Check them out:

1. Hallie – Fairy Bread

This new single comes alongside the unveiling of the Brisbane-native’s new tour dates. Hallie will play headline shows in Sydney, Wollongong and Melbourne this June. She is also set to support Great Cable in Brisbane and Byron Bay and Hatchie in Brisbane.

2. Gruff Rhys – Mausoleum Of My Former Self 

According to Gruff, this new track is about “human ageing – people become different people but they’re still an avatar for who they used to be.” It’s taken from his new album, Seeking New Gods, out this Friday.

3. Billie Marten – Human Replacement

This is the latest single to be released from Billie’s upcoming third album, Flora Fauna, which is out this Friday on Fiction Records. Check our interview here.

4. Faye Webster – I Know I’m Funny haha

 This is the title track and fourth single from her eagerly anticipated new album, out June 25th on Secretly Canadian.

5. Silly Boy Blue – The Fight (Orchestral Version)

The Paris-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer has dropped a reworked version of her new single. Her debut album, Breakup Songs, is set to be released on 18th June.

6. John Grant – Billy

With his new album, Boy From Michigan, due for release on June 25 via Bella Union, and having previously shared the tracks The Only Baby, Boy From Michigan and Rhetorical Figure, John Grant today shares a video for the closing track on the LP.

7. upsidedownhead – higher ft Ric Rufio

upsidedownhead (aka Ross James) is joined by fellow Sydney-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and frequent Flight Facilities collaborator, Ric Rufio. 

8. Beryl – Bite the Hand

Check out the new one from the Sydney indie-folk duo.

9. ellie d – Miss You

In her new single, the Los Angeles native draws from a real life quarantine relationship that unexpectedly took a turn for the worse last year.

10. Jessica Wilde – Cruel

Here’s the third single to be taken from Wilde’s debut album, which will be out later this year.
