Greatest Hits tour diary and photos

Gold Coast band Greatest Hits have a new single, Banana Moon, out this week. To mark its release, they have shared a tour diary with us, complete with behind-the-scenes photos:

BRISBANE
Day 1 of tour, and we kick off at The Brightside, Brisbane with ‘Fancy That’ – an event curated with our good pals, The Oogars – Consisting of visual art, vintage clothing, great music, and a damn good time. Really proud of this one!

“Oh, what a night” – Frankie Valli.

COFFS HARBOUR
En route to Sydney, we stop in at Coffs and stay with Jack’s (drummer) family. We drink wine and share hot chips under a beautiful Sawtell sunset, while Ryan & Tim chat about the surf. It’s the best tour prep in our opinion – would highly recommend.

“Never put off until tomorrow the fun you can have today.” – Brave New World

SYDNEY
We hit an epic bakery and beach in Hawks Nest, before arriving in Sydney. We’ve waited a long time for this headline show (3rd time rescheduled – cheers Covid!), so we’re all pretty stoked to be rolling into Vic On The Park.
Highlights include; Jack’s last minute gumtree purchase (due to forgetting his drum stool); The crowd spontaneously breaking into the macarena during ‘Palm Springs’; Insane Shakshuka at Shenkin; And the best beers at Wildflower Brewery (it’s like wine but it’s beer. Really nice).

“While your feet are stomping and the jam is pumping, look ahead, the crowd is jumping” – Techtronic

MONA VALE
Another venue with another good disco ball. We stay with old friends of Tim’s (keys) who make us delicious Thai curry. The show goes well despite being interrupted by a swarm of police – apparently someone thought it would be a good idea to bring a knife (again). Everyone is ok.

The sleepy weekend feel in Sydney’s Northern Beaches give us time to stand in line by the pool, like the locals probably would, and get a few snaps. Great for morale.

“Sweet confusion under the moonlight.” – Dr. John

WOLLONGONG
There’s something in the water here and it makes for a damn good time! Every minute here is great fun, and we make some beautiful new friends . Although, we have to convince a nice man that, “Yes – our fruit shaped percussion IS an important part of our set, and we really do need it back.”

“Our clothes, our hair, we don’t care. It’s all about being there” – Prince

SOUTH COAST NSW
We hire a camper van and spend a few days driving the coastal road from Sydney to Melbourne. We stop at way too many beautiful places, and end up having to do long drives at night to make up time.

“Funkier than a mosquito’s tweeter” – Nina Simone

MELBOURNE
Final night of tour and we have the pleasure of playing The Retreat, with our pal T Truman starting the party. To drive so far from home and play to a room full of dancing people with smiling faces, is a dream come true. Thanks Melbourne x
Heading to the airport, we somehow manage to fit the whole band and all our gear into a tiny Corolla.

“All I want is a photo in my wallet, a small remembrance of something more solid” – Blondie
