Our top ten tunes of the week – June 22
These are the songs that have been getting us going over the past week. Check them out:
1. Tkay Maidza – Cashmere
This single arrives with the announcement that Tkay’s next EP, Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3, will be out on July 9 via Dew Process/4AD. This collection will mark the final EP in the LYWW trilogy.
2. DZ Deathrays – Golden Retriever
Along with this new single, the band have just announced a string of Australian headline tour dates for their Positive Rising: Part 2 album tour this September/October.
3. Charlotte Day Wilson – Keep Moving
This new one is taken from the Canadian RNB/soul producer-vocalist-instrumentalist’s upcoming debut album, ALPHA, out July 9th.
4. Monsieur Pompier’s Travelling Freakshow – The Ear Fairy
Teatime Terrors, the debut album by Monsieur Pompier’s Travelling Freakshow, is out on Cleopatra Records on July 16th on 12″ vinyl and digital download. You can find out more here.
5. Ngaiire – Closer
The Sydney-based, Papua New Guinea-born future soul artist has announced that her forthcoming album, titled 3, will be out Friday 27 August.
6. Anita Lester – Sun Moon Stars
Australian/Israeli artist Anita Lester has released a brand new single, written in the midst of 2020, recorded to tape and produced by Husky (Husky Gawenda, Gideon Preiss and Jules Pascoe).
7. Tesse – POWERBALL
Tesse has supported internationally acclaimed acts such as Stella Donnelly, Jack River and Angie McMahon, as well as being a contributing member to some of Australia’s most notable bands and singer-songwriters. The video for his new single was created in collaboration with Sydney filmmaker Jessica Long.
8. thisisNAMASTE – I Like Your Face
Check out the new cut from the rising Scottish pop singer, which is about the awkward stage at the very start of a dating someone.
9. CHERYM – Listening To My Head
The Northern Irish trio have dropped the video for their latest single, which is out now on Alcopop! Records.
10. Sampology – Suffer and Swim (Feat. Allysha Joy)
The accompanying video for this new single was pieced together using Sampology’s late grandfather’s archived Super 8 footage.
