Getting to know Faye Webster

Winner of our 2019 album of the year, Faye Webster releases her eagerly anticipated new LP, ‘I Know I’m Funny, haha’, this week. We asked her to tell us about herself:

I am… a musician from Atlanta, GA. But I’ll do whatever else calls to me and feels like a good way to express myself… I think that’s the whole point of being an artist.

I Know I’m Funny, haha is… the latest representation of me as a human being. It’s a collection of songs and stories from the past 2 years that gives a good explanation of who I am with a personal closer look into my feelings and thoughts. I hope listeners will be able to relate and feel something from it.

Home is… in Atlanta with Boothlord.

I spend too much time… thinking about the past. Always wishing to change something instead of appreciating what I was doing and how it led to me being the person I am today. I think this is probably the same for every artist though, we are too hard on ourselves.

I’ve never… been able to set a time or date to write or feel creative. It just comes in the moment in waves and feels more natural that way.

The last 12 months have been… creatively draining. The pressure that everyone has on musicians to be using all this down time to make a million different things has taken a lot of the fun out of it for me. I’ve never liked to create on demand, so it’s been a bit of a struggle for me.

It might surprise people to learn that… I’m a professional yoyo player. Just kidding. But I do like to yoyo. I’ve been playing a lot these past few years and going to competitions and meeting other players and stuff. Now when I tour I make sure I get to meet up with a player at every city to have someone to play with.

I Know I’m Funny, haha is out this Friday the 25th June. Pre-order it here. Keep up to date with Faye on Insta.
