Our top ten tunes of the week – October 22
These are the songs that we’ve had on constant rotation over the past week or so:
1. flowerkid – vodka orange juice
The artist’s debut EP, everyone has a breaking point, is out 11th November. The music and lyrics grapple with his experience as a trans person and issues around gender dysphoria, trans suicide and mental health.
2. Alex Lahey – Spike The Punch
The release of this new single coincides with the announcement of the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter and producer signing to Liberation Records.
3. Phebe Starr – AIR
This is the first official single taken from the Sydney-based artist’s upcoming album, Heavy Metal Flower Petal,set for release in February 2022.
4. Gilmore Trail – Ruins
The Sheffield band’s first original music in over six years, the track arrives as the lead single of their upcoming new album, Impermanence, due for release on 22 January 2022.
5. SO.Crates – Fresh Gold Bloom-Age
This is the second chapter to their AA Side release that also includes the recent Beaut-I-Full World feat. Zima & Kalala.
6. FELIVAND – Where Were You
The Brisbane-based artist says: “I wrote ‘Where Were You’ after realising someone wasn’t there for me in a way I thought they would be. I felt let down and forgotten and this song is a pretty raw and impassioned outlet of that feeling.”
7. Psychedelic Porn Crumpets – Lava Lamp Pisco
The band has announced a 26-date EU/UK 2022 tour – including a big show at the Electric Ballroom in London.
8. Dancer – Fears
The Newcastle band say: “Fears is about the magical power we all want to step in and fight our battles for us, when really our battles are our own and need to be fought and won by ourselves”.
9. will hyde – fukced up
After turning heads with previous two singles boy. and our neighbors., the 22 year-old has dropped his new single.
10.Courtney Cole – light
The LA-based, New Orleans native records her music in the tuning of 528Hz (as opposed to the standard tuning of 440Hz), as she wants her music to promote love, self-awareness, and healing.
