Getting to know Ash Lune

Ash Lune has just dropped her ace new single, Before, We asked her to tell us about herself:

I am… Ash Lune and even that is not my name. However, it doesn’t matter because names don’t matter that much to me. Most people spend their whole lives with a name they didn’t give to themselves. As if somebody else would know them better. ….Names, I’ve learnt, are for the convenience of others. If I know who I am, then I do really need a name?

Before is… a song I wrote a long time ago about a conversation that I had, which was also a long time ago. It has been a privilege having the opportunity to immortalise a person, a conversation, a feeling and melody through a song. Everything dies but art lives on forever. 

Home is… yet to be found. One of my favourite quotes is “life happens wherever you are, whether you make it or not”. I believe that humans can make any place their home if they’re tied down by things that matter to them. I have nothing holding me down , no gravity, I’m restless wherever I am . If home is where you can rest, I’d like to think that I will find it someday. 

I spend too much time… worrying about things that are either insignificant or out of my control. Like time.

I’ve never… been off this planet. I’d really like to go. Most people would say that’s quite unlikely but that’s what they used to say about a lot of what I am today. If I want it to happen, I will make it happen. 

The last 18 months have been… a dream. Blurry, beautiful and not longer than thirty minutes.
