Getting to know PAPERWEIGHT

Melbourne-based pop-punk band PAPERWEIGHT have returned with their new offering Asteroids! And Where To Find Them. We asked them to tell us about themselves:

We are… PAPERWEIGHT! Your friendly neighbourhood pop punk/alternative band.

Asteroids! And Where To Find Them is… Your next favourite song. It’s written about not taking yourself too seriously and living in the here and now. It’s one of our favourite songs from our nee EP! 

Home is… Melbourne – except for Tom, the Ballarat-ian. Haris, Luana and Basil grew up around the corner from each other (on the same block!) without even knowing!! 

We spend too much time… Eating. To be fair, we’re all part European!

We’ve never… Played interstate before… but that’s about to change!!! Eyes peeled.

It might surprise people to learn that… We have only played 3 shows ever (thank you covid). We formed in 2020, mid-pandemic. We think we have the perfect ratio of tall to short in the band. We are a super culturally diverse band – Haris is Turkish, Luana is Italian, Basil is Greek/ South African, and Tom is a mix of English/Italian/Aboriginal (Gunditjmara tribe)!
