Our top ten tunes of the fortnight – March 25

These are the songs that have been on constant rotation in our office over the past couple of weeks:

1. Gruff Rhys – People Are Pissed

Of the song, Gruff says: “The lyrics were basically inspired by the widespread anger I – and many other people felt towards the incompetence and arrogance of the Johnson regime during the lockdowns – not that I feel any different now. I mean the words go off on one like most of my songs but that was the seed of the idea.”

2. Cody Jon – Becky’s Plan

Introducing the Eora/Sydney-based 19-year-old singer, dancer, and actor who makes big bedroom pop music.

3. Father John Misty – Goodbye Mr. Blue

This new single is taken from FJM’s upcoming album, Chloë and The Next 20th Century, out April 8th.

4. BODY TYPE – Buoyancy

The the all-female rock group, have shared the latest cut from their debut album Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing’s Surprising.

5. Mvlholland – Foreign Obstacles

The singer-songwriter is back with her first new music of 2022.

6. Harper Bloom – Red Rocket

 Have a listen to the new one from the Melbourne-based, Perth singer-songwriter. 

7. Squiggles – We Only Came Here For Your Hearts

This is the latest track to be taken from the forthcoming debut EP, Look What We Have Done, which will be released on 22nd April 2022 via Alcopop! Records. Squiggles is the new project from Niall McCamley, drummer of The Spook School.

8. Moreton – Down + Out

Here’s the new song from the up-n-coming Brisbane art-rock outfit.

9. HANNI – Undermine

This new single sees the 20-year-old Brisbane-based singer-songwriter addressing the complexity of relationships.

10. Mylk – Hold

Check out the new one from the Melbourne alt-rock band.
