Live Like Animals share five up and coming artists

Eora/Sydney band Live Like Animals have recently released their debut album, Modern State Of Mind. They’ve also told us about some of their favourite up and coming artists:

We go to heaps of shows and love our locals so much. We do a lot of music industry work as a team, Ryan does photography, Brendan does show promotion and these are some artists that we can’t wait to work with again!

1. The Motion Below

The Motion Below, I would say are in my favourite category when it comes to the metalcore circle of music, with their masterful ability to mix not just heavy riffs that slap you in the face but also clean groovy beautiful arrangements within their songs, especially vocally. For me with my photography background, I get a really unique perspective not just knowing them as mates, sharing an awesome bill with us, but also getting the perspective of watching as well as taking live concert photography for them. With that, I get to appreciate their ability to not just entertain but also have moments within their set where they aren’t just a band, but also one with the audience. If you haven’t already, I’d grab a ticket to any of their future shows and you’ll definitely be seeing me there!

2. Father Deer Hands

I have a soft spot for Father Deer Hands, these guys are up there in S tier when it comes to their personalities and how welcoming they are, but don’t be distracted by their charm as they put on a killer set. As a band that finds how a live show is performed and always trying to push ourselves in providing the best experience both not just through our songs but also through the way we entertain and perform, Father Deer Hands are a very big influence of mine and are the main fire underneath me to keep on pushing.

These guys set the standard when it comes to how I approach my live performances. Alongside that their songs are SO incredibly amazing. As someone that is a big fan of the Hellions ‘Opera Oblivia’ which is in my top five favourite albums of all time, these guys smash that sound in the park whilst also putting their own spin on things.

3. A Swift Farewell

I’ve been following A Swift Farewell for a long while now and every time I hear a new track from them or see them live they always impress me. As someone that was very emo back in my young days listening to bands like ‘My Chemical Romance’, ‘Green Day’, ‘Sleeping With Sirens’, ‘Blink 182’; A Swift Fairwell’s image, sound and overall persona stays in a special spot in my heart.

If it’s driving to work, cleaning the house or having a cheeky bev on a chill night at home, their music still hits in the best way possible and is something we try to uphold in our band. No matter what venue or place they are at they always are a feel-good banger of a time, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

4. Broken Earth

If you haven’t heard of Broken Earth yet… you need to change that now!!! Since the early days, we’ve seen Broken Earth grow and evolve as a band and as a powerhouse of a band. Their music just keeps getting better and better hitting my little hard-core self.

Every time I see that bill with Broken Earth I know it’s going to be absolutely chaotic and a hectic not just set but a hectic show. These guys get a crowd that starts as vibing and chill turning into a pack of wolves creating circle pits, walls of death and every under the sun, but at the same time also have this incredible power of banding everyone together to support one another, no matter what.

Raph (Lead Singer in Broken Earth) shows the room how it is done, with his larger than life presence and his out of nowhere energy, it deserves its own award! But off stage also just being such an incredibly awesome and amazing person and someone that I’m super glad and honoured to call not just a counterpart but also a friend!!

5. PENI PARKER

Anime Themed heavy rock. You really can’t get more aesthetic than that. PENI PARKER is more than just a band, she’s a character and a brand and it’s honestly so inspiring to watch. Recently she performed with Against The Current and Days Like These and her live shows are not only energetic and characterful but also her stage visuals and merch line is so unique; she’s really a frontrunner and innovator in our scene and it’s going to be so awesome watching her blow up just being authentically herself.
