New Sailor Jerry pop-up venue

hotel street.36 PMPresenters of rock shows, enablers of drunken misdemeanours and providers of general good times, Sailor Jerry, have opened the doors of Hotel Street in Sydney.

It’s a multi-layered hive of vintage activity, running for a short and sweet six weeks and complete with American style BBQ food and the world’s largest collection of Norman Collins’ art. Not to mention bevvies of bangin’ local bands playing every other night. Surely that’s implied.

At their recent launch party, the roof was raised in a rum-soaked toast. The life and style of the iconic tattoo artist was amplified throughout, from the art-covered walls to the go-go dancin’ pin-up babes. Grimy 60’s rock and roll was provided courtesy of Pat Capucci and Los Tones, whose high-energy garage induced many a shimmy and a shake.

Though I don’t remember a lot, I can refresh my memory over the next month until it’s all over red rover on October 13th. In the meantime, bands and film screenings can fill your nights with good (un)clean fun. Check it out Sydney, while it lasts!

Find Hotel Street at 12 Kellett Street in Kings Cross. For listings and more info follow them on Facebook or Twitter and spread the word via #HOTELSTREET.
