Interview: Getting to Know Glades

glades

Glades have just dropped their debut EP ‘This is What It’s Like’ and are playing some live shows soon. We asked them to tell us about themselves:

We are Karina, Cam and Joey. We’re an Alt Pop trio from Sydney. We became friends in high school and started GLADES a couple years after we all finished.

“This Is What It’s Like” EP depicts the complexities and present moments of relationships. It takes you on an ’emotional’ journey. It’s upbeat and high energy in places, but still has an overall sense of calmness. We wanted to create an honest pop record that people can fit their own stories and relate to the situations we write about. Creating something relatable is so important to us. It’s completely us, written + produced by us.

Home is Sydney, Australia!! We all live about 45 minutes from the city.

Our upcoming tour will be so much fun! It’s our first headline tour and we want to make it as special as we can to create a memory not only for us but everyone who comes, which means we’re going all out! There’s going to be a cool lighting show for our set, new songs, merch to buy, it’ll definitely be something to look forward to! We’re playing two Sydney shows – because the first one sold out, Brisbane, and Melbourne! (You can get tickets here bit.ly/2emeglU).

We spend too much time playing table tennis at our studio, and being indoors.

It might surprise people to learn that we write and produce our music together between the three of us!

In the future we want to play shows across USA and Europe. Would be amazing to play at some of the major festivals over there too. Lots have people have actually asked us to go over an play some shows so hopefully one day soon!!

Keep up to date with the band on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud.
