Getting to Know Bus Vipers

Bus Vipers, aka Sydney-based psych-pop multi-instrumentalist Daniel Ahern, releases his debut EP, Federal Highway, this week. We asked him to tell us about himself:

I am a blip in the history of the universe, a flesh husk in the wind, a viper in a bus travelling down the federal highway.

‘Federal Highway’ is a state of mind that many of us could experience whether or not they can drive – I myself do not have a driver’s license.

Teaming up with Sydney creatives Prue Stent and Honey Long for photoshoots and the videos for ‘CSIRO Weeds’ and ‘Fluid’ was great. They’re some of the nicest people I have met. They also have an unfortunate knack for choosing the windiest and coldest spots in Sydney to shoot lol

I spend too much time trying to decipher the body language of my dog, my dog yawns a lot and I’m not sure whether that’s because she is frightened or just comfortable – the internet sends mixed messages on this.

I’ve never capitulated to the allure of mediocrity

Home is where the free supermarket bought plunger coffee is.

It might surprise people to learn that I wrote this record while finishing a law degree.

In the future people will revisit Federal Highway EP in light of my future output and be intrigued by it, and maybe even fall in love with it.

….

Bus Vipers will also play a headline show to celebrate the release of the Federal Highway EP on Saturday 16 September at Golden Age Cinema in Sydney. Keep up to date with Bus Vipers on Facebook.
