Soccer Mommy hits up The Great Escape

The Great Escape is next month. NEXT MONTH! And, as if the line-up wasn’t good enough already, another 100 acts have been added to the bill. Here’s the scoop…

We’re especially excited about the inclusion of Nashville’s Sophie Allison, aka Soccer Mommy – who has earned high praise for her “chill but kinda sad” indie-pop bedroom jams, with her recently released debut album, Clean, garnering acclaim for its crystal-clear melodies and forthright lyrics.

One of the hottest properties in rock at the moment, Bristolian five-piece rabble IDLES will ensure wall-to-wall commotion with their raucous punk-rock. Also joining the line-up are Minneapolis’s masters of emo electro-pop NOW NOW, LA teen garage rockers The Regrettes, who combine a ferocious punk sound with irresistible hooks, and Naomi Scott – aka the Pink Power Ranger from the 2017 Hollywood reboot of the legendary superhero franchise – will bring her RnB vibes and emotionally charged lyrics to the festival.

Also Brighton-bound are Connie Constance – set to inspire TGE with her jazz and soul flavours, husky vocals, and emotional intelligence beyond her years, and Edinburgh’s melodic indie rockers Vistas whose energetic shows have been causing a clamour.

Insecure Men is made up of schoolmates Saul Ademczewski, formerly of Fat White Family, and Ben Romans-Hopcraft from Childhood. The notorious duo have created a beautiful and distinctive pop sound on a range of twisted subjects, and look set to intrigue and delight in equal measure.

Local talent at this year’s festival includes Brighton’s funky electronic rockers Demob Happy and The Magic Gang who will raise the roof with their infectious indie-pop, while Grime’s newest sensation Izzie Gibbs is getting ready to step up to the next level with his witty wordplay and limitless energy, and Australian multi-instrumentalist G-Flip has won a host of fans with her smooth vocals and juicy riffs.

Elsewhere, gravel-voiced Snail Mail will transport festival go-ers down Route 66, and Kenyan-born Danish rapper K-Phax will grace the festival with “happy rap” – his unique brand of bubblegum hip-hop.

The Great Escape will be taking over 60 venues, with 500+ artists and a brand new festival site on Brighton Beach.
