Sink your talons into Yours and Owls Festival
Yours and Owls festival is a really, really silly name for a festival, and, we feel, a little misleading. Having scoured the official website for clues, we deduced that, unfortunately for some, there will be no Owls there. At least, there are no ‘bird of prey’ displays timetabled, and appearances from famous owl celebrities such as Hedwig or Errol are not, currently, on the lineup list.
Fortunately for ALL, though, the actual line-up is so bloody good, that it more than makes up for this slight poetic (po-owl-tic?) licensing of the truth. Reading like a ‘too-wit-too-woo’s-who’ of contemporary Australian and International up and comers, the top-line is gold class, with home-grown favourites Angus & Julia Stone, Middle Kids (pictured, above), Peking Duck, and D.D Dumbo giving way to impressive international acts such as Liars and Listener. Over the course of two days, the festival is enough to make us all turn a bit owly and nocturnal, as dance acts Alison Wonderland and Touch Sensitive‘ll probably have crowds dancing and hooting into the darkest hours.
For sure, Yours and Owls is a festival we can all sink our talons into. Tickets are available now through the official website – best be sure to swoop down and scoop some up quickly to be guaranteed they don’t sell out.
