Here are some Christmas gift ideas

Ah Christmas. That time of running frantically around packed shopping centres trying desperately to summon up inspiration for what to buy the significant others in your life. Stressful doesn’t even begin to describe it. Well, because we like you, we’ve come up with some ideas for presents that might just be ideal and will save you so much time/hassle as the holiday season approaches. Check them out…

Awesome headphones

You can’t beat a good pair of headphones, and owning a pair ourselves, we can heartily recommend these beauties (pictured, above) from JBL. The TUNE600BTNC are active noise-cancelling, wireless, on-ear headphones that deliver sharp sound that can be enjoyed without unnecessary noise for more than 12 hours wirelessly. The battery can then be fully recharged in just 2 hours. And thanks to the additional detachable cable, music can be listened to endlessly in wired mode, with or without Active Noise-Cancelling. Stylish and compact, JBL’S TUNE600BTNC are the perfect audio accessory for anyone who appreciates dedicated sound quality, sleek design and productive features but, like us, is on a pretty tight budget. They come in four colour options: playful pink, sleek black, electric blue or striking white. World-class sound quality without the price tag? Yes please!

JBL’s TUNE600BTNC will set you back a very reasonable $149.95, and now available at www.jbl.com.au and from select retailers.

A delight for the tastebuds

Do you have a loved one that likes a tipple at Christmas? How about Ailsa Bay single malt whisky? It is the only Scotch whisky to undergo ‘micro-maturation’, a process where the new spirit is first kept in small bourbon casks to age for up to nine months. By ‘cask starting’ rather than ‘cask finishing’ the malt, whisky scientists can then layer on a complex matrix of flavours, taking the liquid through rapid, intense maturation and incorporating varying levels of sweetness and smokiness. What a delight!

Ailsa Bay is available in Australia through Vintage Cellars (and online), select First Choice stores (and online) and Liquorland select stores in December, at a recommended retail price of $AUD99 per 700ml bottle. And remember… drink responsibly.

The gift of movies

If you ask us, there is little better than sitting in a dark room for a couple of hours watching a good film. Phones off, no distractions, just you and the silver screen for an evening. Lovely. So why not gift a loved one the chance to do that, for free? Dendy is our favourite chain of cinemas in Australia and they have a range of gift cards that come in various denominations, from $25 right up to 150 bones, from here: https://www.dendy.com.au/shop/gift-cards

Look After your Ears

You know that feeling when you come out of a gig and yours ears are literally ringing? And then you wake up in the morning and they still haven’t returned to normal? If so, you need to get yourself some Vibes Hi-Fidelity Earplugs. As seen on ABC’s Shark Tank, these reusable earplugs are designed for live music: unlike traditional foam earplugs that block and muffle sounds, Vibes decrease the volume of loud live music to a safer and more comfortable level, while still allowing you to hear it, and everything around you, clearly. Additionally, Vibes’ clear design makes them virtually invisible, allowing you to be discreet about wearing hearing protection in public. Each pair includes three sizes of interchangeable eartips to ensure a comfortable fit for any sized ear, a pocket-sized carrying case and, brilliantly, a donation to Hear the World Foundation, which provides hearing healthcare and hearing aids to children in need around the world. They sell at a pretty damn reasonable price too. We use them, and they’re awesome. Find out more here: http://www.discovervibes.com/
