Getting to know Lola Scott

Emerging from the southern highlands of New South Wales, Lola Scott serves up a unique brand of dogmatic dark-indie pop. We asked her to tell us about herself:

I am… wildly uncoordinated until you put a guitar in my hands.

Warzone of the Suburbs is… a song I wrote in the garage of a sketchy neighbourhood I used to live in about my neighbours fighting. I wanted one of them to have the nerve to get up and leave. The overall message of the song; stop putting up with abuse.

Home is… usually my best friend’s couch because I am currently moving into her house slowly. I wonder if she will realise when I move in my bed this weekend.

I spend too much time… re-watching Scrubs on dvd.

It might surprise people to learn that… I studied classical guitar for a long time before I got into electric guitar.

I’ve never… tried to teach my cat to walk on a leash. Jokes. I did that. Dog lover at heart.

In the future… I would love to tour in America and do writing sessions every other day.

Lola will play at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Wednesday 6 March and will perform as special guest for A.D.K.O.B. at the Vic on the Park on Friday 15 March. Keep up to date with Lola on Facebook.
