Our top ten tunes of the week – July 18

These are the ten songs that have been lighting our fireworks over the past seven days:

1. Gruff Rhys – Pang!

Following the release of 2018’s Babelsberg, Super Furry Animals legend Gruff Rhys has announced he will be releasing his new album Pang! on Friday 13 September. Here’s a taste.

2. Sampa The Great – OMG

Premiered with a ‘World First’ play on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1, “OMG” addresses Sampa’s ideas of home through the exploration of her African heritage.

3. The Kooks – So Good Looking

The band are back with a new single and an animated, Popeye-inspired video clip.

4. Marika Hackman – the one

This is the second single from Marika’s forthcoming third album, Any Human Friend, out 9th August.

5. Ingrid Michaelson – Missing You

Directed by Daniel Carberry, the colourful music video was shot all in one take.

6. Chastity Belt – Ann’s Jam

The Seattle band have a new self-titled album out on Friday 20 September.

7. Angie McMahon & Leif Vollebekk – If You Call

Whilst touring Australia together earlier this year, Angie McMahon and Leif Vollebekk took some time out to film a collaborative session version of a track called If You Call.

8. Alice Ivy – In My Mind ft. Ecca Vandal

Alive Ivy is heading out across Australia this Sept/Oct as support for Northeast Party House’s national tour.

9. Pixies – On Graveyard Hill

Check out the official new video from the legendary band. The song is taken from new album, Beneath the Eyrie, which drops in September.

10. Libby Steel – Miss Me
