Music interview: G Flip is all g

Melbourne artist G Flip, otherwise known as Georgia Flipo, is set to drop her debut album, About Us, this week. We had a quick chat with her:

Hi Georgia. How are you doing today? What’s going on in your world?

Hey legends! How are you doing?! I spent today signing 1500 units of vinyl and CD so my hand is feeling a bit sore, but I’ve had a couple of gin and tonics so I’m feeling fresh.

Your new album relates to a drawn out break-up. Are you ok now? How has the process of making, releasing and enjoying the success of your recent songs helped the healing process for you?

I am okay now, thanks for asking! When I wrote the majority of the songs on About Us I was going through the off-period of an on-again/off-again relationship. But now it’s definitely on, and it’s been on for two years straight, so I’m all g.

How are you feeling as your album is about to be sent out into the world?

Pretty fucking psyched! I wrote a lot of these songs 2+ years ago, so I’m keen for them to be finally out there in the world!

Moving forwards, have you thought about what the subject of your records will be now? What’s going to influence your new music? Or have you not thought that far ahead yet?

To be completely honest I’ve already written the majority of my next work’s material.

What does the rest of 2019 hold for you? You’ve got a few festivals lined up, right? Will there be a headline tour as well?

Yeah I’m doing a headline tour in November and a couple of festivals before the end of the year. It’s gonna be super fun! You coming or what!?

Yeah we’ll be there! Finally, tell us something we’d be surprised to learn about you…

I can eat a whole family box of Maltesers in one go.

G Flip’s debut full length album, About Us, is out today August 30 on Future Classic. You can pre-order it here.
