Our top ten tunes of the week – Sept 24

These are the ten songs that have been getting us going over the past seven days:

1. Tropical Fuck Storm – The Happiest Guy Around

This is a song “about humankind’s uniquely self-immolating propensity to bear a grudge,” says Gareth Liddiard. Their national album tour kicks off soon.

2. Holy Holy – Maybe You Know

Currently wandering the north of the nation on their 15-date headline tour, Holy Holy have unveiled the official video for their new single.

3. Erthlings – Returning

This is taken off their debut EP, Indigo, out now via Future Classic.

4. Hubert Lenoir – hunny bunny (feat. Kirin J Callinan)

This track came about when Hubert and Kirin saw each other backstage at a festival in France. They didn’t speak, but Hubert DMed him the next day and asked him if he’d want to collaborate and a week later Kirin flew to Naples to meet him and they made this track.

5. KUČKA – Drowning

The Australian producer and vocalist returns with her first single in three years.

6. Alex Lahey – Welcome to the Black Parade

Alex enlisted G Flip on percussion, Jono Tooke (Cry Club) on guitar,and Richard Buxton (Ecca Vandal) on bass when covering this My Chemical Romance tune. She’s touring Aus later this year.

7. Brightness – Feathers

Feathers is lifted from his forthcoming self-titled second album, set for release on Friday 25 October.

8. Daniela Andrade – Ayayai

This is the second track to be lifted from the forthcoming EP, ‘Tamale’.

9. Nooky – CUZN

Here’s the new single, taken from his forthcoming debut EP, out in October.

10. MF Tomlinson – Sum of Nothing
