Interview: Getting to know Marshes

Sydney’s Marshes has recently released her latest single, C.B.F. (Can’t Be Fucked). We asked her to tell us about herself:

I am… Marshes. I’m currently watching The Terminal, cat-sitting at a friends place in Sydney during isolation. I have been talking out loud to myself, drinking wine, making tea in one of those kettles that whistles at you and playing with my new microphone.

C.B.F. is... about relationships you just can’t be fucked with. Anyone you’ve spent time with that either didn’t really care about you, or you didn’t really care about them.

Home is… I don’t think I don’t know. I live in Sydney. I imagine it to be quiet and cosy with a really thick rug to sit on. There would be sunlight and a studio. Lots of wood and green plants that never die. For now I suppose I find bits of home in cups of coffee, beach strolls and conversations with old friends.

I’ve never…. liked limes. Love lemons. Fuck limes.

I spend too much time… thinking. Avoiding phone calls and thinking. That’s actually what my first song M.I.A. was about. I think that if I think long enough I’ll be able to solve my problems. But I’m the one that makes the problems up in my head in the first place.

It might surprise people to learn that… I just cried watching The Terminal.

In the future… I’ll probably regret this bag of fudge I’m about to eat.

Keep up to date with Marshes on Facebook.
