Our top ten tunes of the week – July 10

These are the songs that have been getting us going over the past seven days:

1. Fanny Lumsden – Fierce

The Australian artist wrote her new single as a salute to all the fierce women who not only surround her, but also for those who have come before us.

2. Future Islands – For Sure

The band return with their first new song in three years! Written and recorded in the band’s hometown of Baltimore, it features backing vocals from Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak.

3. DMA’S – Criminals

Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated third studio album THE GLOW this week, the band have dropped another new single.

4. AJ Tracey & Mabel – West Ten

UK chart royalty, AJ Tracey & Mabel have finally reunited, four years after AJ featured on Mabel’s “Thinking Of You (Remix)”.

5. Matt Costa – Last Love Song

The new one from the Californian artist was written originally as an anniversary gift, but it soon turned into a painful break-up song.

6. Jordan Dennis – The Link

The video initially meant to feature Jordan, however after he injured himself days before filming, it was filmed in an abandoned Sydney train tunnel, featuring a fierce troupe of dancers instead.

7. CUT_ – Cry

For this new tune, the Dutch duo teamed up as a production duo as opposed to their usual song-driven-style of writing. “We wanted to achieve a dreamy, melancholic yet danceable feel for this song. Taking inspiration from artists we love such as Burial and Caribou, we took our time to find the perfect balance between those 3 elements,” they explain.

8. Shacks & Palaces – Alone Together

The Temper Trap’s Jonny Aherne has released the second single from his new solo project.

9. The Blinders – Black Glass

This is the latest track to be taken from the band’s upcoming album, Fantasies Of A Stay At Home Psychopath, which is out on July 17th.

10. cookii – coca-cola

Of the track, cookii tells us, “I’ve written it from the perspective that I’m really confident and dgaf about what anyone thinks. I’m not really like that as a person, it’s just fun to pretend.”
