Our top ten tunes of the week – September 11

These are the songs that have been lighting our fireworks over the past seven days:

1. Julia Stone – Unreal

Julia’s outstanding second offering for 2020 speaks to the experience of feeling alienated in a relationship and, alongside her previous single, Break, will feature on a greater body of work to come.

2. KIT – King Size Bed

When Stage Four restrictions came into place in Victoria, the video for KIT’s new single was unfinished, but on the day of the single release she hosted an online pub-themed extravaganza, which she just so happened to record!

3. Thomas HeadonUrbanAngel1999

The new single from the 19-year-old Melbourne-raised singer, songwriter and producer is about an online relationship that quickly starts to go downhill.

4. London Grammar – Baby It’s You

This new single arrives as the first piece of music the band have released since their 2017 top-selling album Truth Is A Beautiful Thing.

5. Cosmo’s Midnight – Idaho

As we gear towards the Australian electronic music duo’s sophomore album this October, here’s a final taste of the collection.

6. Children Collide – Funeral for a Ghost

Following their long-awaited reunion, the band have dropped another new single which will feature on their forthcoming fourth studio album.

7. Crocodylus – Social Climber

The Northern Beaches trio have supported Skeggs, Ocean Alley, The Chats, and The Preachers, and are currently working on their debut album.

8. Matilda Mann – Happy Anniversary, Stranger

Inspired by a stranger she saw every day on her bus to school, this song is about having a crush on someone from a distance and finally getting the courage to speak to them.

9. Anna Krantz – We Could Be High

The Dublin based singer’s new track is about taking a leap of faith in the hopes of finding the ultimate high. Be it love for another, love for oneself or simply inner calm and connection.

10. On Diamond – Candle

This is the first we’ve heard from the Melbourne band since last-year’s critically acclaimed self-titled album.
