Getting to know Wilson’s Prom

Melbourne band Wilson’s Prom is made up of solo artists Merpire and Feelds (aka Rhiannon & James), and they are just about to drop a self-titled EP. We asked them to tell us about themselves:

We are… writing this in the car on a drive back from visiting the beach and our friends’ little bub Nash – both of which we haven’t seen in about 7 months. During that time, Nash has grown some teeth, and he managed to fall headfirst into them while we were there, splitting his tiny lip and bleeding everywhere. He brushed it off though.

Our debut EP is… our fictional world that we dreamed up about attending a night at a high school Prom. There are parts within some tracks that sound like you’re actually at the Prom too – Promception!

Home is… home more than ever right now. Full of friends (there’s 5 of us, 6 at times), fronds, records, cook-ups, creative space and Playstation!

We spend too much time… playing Playstation. But really, we probably spend too much time thinking about what people are going to think about our music, instead of just doing it.

We’ve never… played a live show as Wilson’s Prom! But geez, we’re very keen to. Hopefully the New Year will allow us to join our bands together and play a few gigs to support the EP release. Any Prom night planned out there that needs a band?

It might surprise people to learn that… James has never been to Europe, and Rhi hates mushrooms.

In the future… we want to go to Japan please!

The self-titled EP is out November 4. Pre-purchase here: https://wilsonsprom.bandcamp.com/album/wilsons-prom-2
