Getting to know Juno Disco

Juno Disco is made up of Melbourne artists Nick Bond and Albert Salt. They have just revealed their new single, You’re So Hung Up On My Colours. We asked Albert to tell us more:

‘You’re So Hung Up On My Colours’ is… a song that explores the idea of fame and how some people seem to place too much value in it. That’s obviously a bit of a showbiz cliche at this point, but in the age of social media and influencers, there’s never been more emphasis on being famous in spite of talent or hard work.

Our upcoming live show will be… a bit different! Our legendary drummer Lachie Bubb has temporarily moved to Queensland to surf and drink copious amounts of XXXX so Nick and I are about to meet up after quite some time apart during Melbourne’s lockdown and start planning a few stunts for the new show.

Home is… Inner City Melbourne for the both of us, but different sides. Nick also spends quite a bit of time in the Mornington Peninsula (where he has been producing Aeroplane Mode and Kitchen Boy,) and I’m originally from Hamilton (Western Victoria). But Melbourne is definitely home.

I spend too much time… watching YouTube (I think that probably goes for the both of us). It’s really my main source of entertainment. Everything from people playing and demoing synths to old Steely Dan Documentaries.

I’ve never… liked to do the same thing over again. With each release we like to keep it fresh and create a new sound and atmosphere. Nick’s always many steps ahead in terms of releases and we’ve got some very cool stuff one the way.

It might surprise people to know that… ‘You’re So Hung Up On My Colours’ was recorded many different ways and now looking back on it feels a bit cursed. The original drum and vocal takes were lost the day of our show at ’St Kilda Fest’. Nick’s laptop unfortunately carked it and we had to start again, but it ended up being even better! But then the same thing happened after shooting the music video in between lockdowns. Unfortunately, most of the footage was lost and we had to do another.
